Reflections from Dan Corcoran House

by Molly Greening
When we reopened the Dan Corcoran House on August 24th this summer, we knew that hospitality for single women and parents with their children would be different than hospitality for single men at the Bethany House.  With lots of helping hands, we tried our best to childproof the house, match Mickey Mouse sheets to Lion King pillow cases, and organize the much larger amount of toiletries designated for women in a warm and inviting manner for our soon to be guests.  As soon as our doors opened, we were quickly humbled in our childproofing and organizational abilities.
We committed ourselves to the trial and error process of learning by doing, and looking back, I would say that we have been very quick learners!
It has been an incredible gift to walk with the guests at Dan Corcoran House and be a witness to the struggles and triumphs in their lives. I feel very lucky to be a part of the women’s and families’ lives, whether that is something as big as being a shoulder to cry on, or as small as twirling with little girls in the living room.
